MEMORIAL DAY
For over 450 years, St. Augustine has stood as a testament to American resilience. Throughout our city’s proud history, honorable men and women have fought and lost their lives to defend the home that they loved. This Memorial Day weekend, we remember those honorable fallen, and raise a glass to their memory.
While Memorial Day is for many a solemn holiday, there is still much room for celebration, and much to be celebrated. Our honored fallen have secured for us a home in this world, and we couldn’t be luckier to live in beautiful St. Augustine. Every day that we rise in the morning to greet the early Floridian sun is a blessing.
Many of St. Augustine’s distinguished veterans lie in the St. Augustine National Cemetery, where relatives and those wishing to pay their respects to the fallen gather. This Memorial Day, May 27, the annual remembrance ceremony event will be held at the grounds of the St. Augustine National Cemetery. This year, Brigadier General (Ret.) Valeria Gonzalez-Kerr is the keynote speaker. The ceremony will begin at 10am with music accompanying the march in of massed flags from local veterans organizations and payment of respects to local veterans who’ve lost their lives in recent times. Limited public parking for the ceremony is located across the street from the National Guard Barracks, at 82 Marine Street.
To our veterans and the families of our staunch defenders and fallen friends, from the team at Century 21 Saltwater Property Group, thank you for your service.
